Spain and Latin America: what changes

Spanish is spoken differently in Spain and in Latin America, and guests notice. The professional formal 'usted' works everywhere.

'You' for a group: in Spain, informal 'vosotros' and formal 'ustedes'; in Latin America 'ustedes' is used for both. With guests, 'ustedes' is always safe.

Common word differences (Spain / much of Latin America): zumo / jugo (juice), patata / papa (potato), coche / carro or auto (car), móvil / celular (mobile phone), camarero / mesero or mozo (waiter, depending on the country).
