How our certificates work
A plain account for employers, candidates and anyone checking a certificate: what it proves, how it is issued, and where its limits are.
- Hospitality Certificate is an independent online skills-certification platform for hotel and restaurant workers, part of the CertHub network (certhub.net).
- Certificates are issued only after a candidate passes an online exam that is graded on our server.
- Hospitality Certificate is not a university, a government licensing body, or a regulated or accredited qualification provider.
- Every issued certificate has a unique ID that anyone can check, free and without an account, at hospitalitycertificate.com/verify.
Who issues the certificates?
Hospitality Certificate, an independent platform within the CertHub network of skills-certificate sites (certhub.net). Certificates are issued by Hospitality Certificate, not by any individual. We write the courses and the exams ourselves.
Contact: support@certhub.net.
What does the exam measure?
Practical knowledge of one job area, such as front desk and reception, restaurant and bar service, housekeeping, or a hospitality language. Questions are scenario-based: what you should say or do in a real situation at work.
It is a knowledge test taken online. It does not observe the candidate working, and it is not supervised by a proctor.
How is the exam built and graded?
Each attempt has 20 questions drawn at random from a larger question bank, in random order, so two attempts are not the same.
The pass mark is 75%. Retakes are free.
The correct answers never reach the candidate's browser. Each answer is checked on our server, and when a certificate is issued the score is recalculated on the server from signed records of the answers. A score typed in by the candidate is never accepted.
What does it cost?
Courses are free. A certificate costs €7.99, paid only after passing the exam. One advanced course for hotel managers costs €50.
What does the certificate ID mean?
Each certificate gets a unique ID in the form HC-YEAR-XXXXXXXX. The ID is the proof: a PDF can be edited, the record behind the ID cannot.
What does an employer see when they verify?
Entering the ID at hospitalitycertificate.com/verify shows the holder's name, the certificate title, the exam score, and the date it was issued. If the ID does not exist, the page says so.
Verification is free and needs no account.
Do certificates expire?
No. A certificate records that the holder passed the exam on the date shown. Employers can judge for themselves how recent it needs to be.
What the certificate is not
It is not a government licence and does not replace any legal requirement for a job, such as food hygiene training, an alcohol-service licence, or a work permit. Our country career guides link to the official rules.
It is not accredited by any university, government, or professional body.
It shows that the holder passed a knowledge exam. It does not show job experience, and it is not a language level on the CEFR scale.
